The modern Milgauss was launched in 2007 before Watches and Wonders existed, but its production run officially ended this week. Farewell to the playful lightning bolt seconds hand and orange accents.
With limited variations and unusual color combinations, the Milgauss always felt like a kind of anti-Rolex. It had a touch of fun, and a more scientific background than that of its adventure seeking stablemates. It was made for scientists who worked around magnetic fields that needed a watch built to be anti-magnetic, which Rolex accomplished by having a soft iron core built around the movement that works as a shield against magnetic waves.
This 2008 example is part of the first year to use the green sapphire crystal, a tint of color that can only be seen at the edges. This model has some slight scuffs around the bottom half of the bezel and the top of the lugs near 7 o’clock, but overall the condition is considered excellent for a pre-owned watch – especially one that has seen 15 years of use.
